Greg Abel, the incoming chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway and Warren Buffett's designated successor, was sworn in as a United States citizen Thursday night during a naturalization ceremony held at an Iowa Cubs baseball game in Des Moines. Abel joined roughly two dozen new Americans representing 16 countries in the annual civic event hosted by the minor league club.
Abel was born in Edmonton, Canada, in 1962 and has spent much of his adult life as a resident of Iowa, making the Des Moines-area ballpark a fitting venue for the milestone.
