United Community Banks Completes Peach State Bancshares Merger
UCB finalized its acquisition of Peach State Bancshares on Aug. 1, 2026, folding Peach State Bank & Trust into United Community Bank.
United Community Banks, Inc. (NYSE: UCB) announced Monday that it has completed its merger with Peach State Bancshares, Inc., the Greenville, S.C.-based bank holding company officially absorbing the Georgia institution effective August 1, 2026. Under the deal's terms, Peach State Bancshares merged directly into United, with United surviving as the continuing corporate entity.
Immediately after the holding-company combination closed, Peach State's banking subsidiary — Peach State Bank & Trust — was folded into United's own bank unit, United Community Bank. The back-to-back transactions effectively dissolve both the parent and the bank charter of Peach State as standalone entities.

Customers and staff of Peach State Bank & Trust will see the most visible changes roll out over coming months. United Community said it expects to complete the conversion of core banking systems, branch signage, and overall branding to the United Community identity in the first quarter of 2027, meaning day-to-day operations will continue largely as normal in the near term.
The deal represents another step in United Community's strategy of expanding its regional footprint through acquisition, adding Peach State's Georgia customer base and branch network to its existing Southeast franchise. While the financial terms of the transaction were not detailed in Monday's announcement, the completion milestone signals that regulatory and shareholder approvals had already been secured ahead of the August 1 effective date.
