Verizon has secured a deal to provide cellular connectivity for new BMW Group vehicles sold in the United States, the company announced through a partnership with Japanese carrier KDDI. The agreement positions Verizon as the domestic network backbone for BMW's growing suite of connected-car services, marking a significant win for the telecom giant in the competitive automotive IoT space.
The tie-up with KDDI — one of Japan's largest wireless operators and a long-standing technology partner of BMW Group — channels Verizon's extensive U.S. LTE and 5G infrastructure directly into the German automaker's vehicle lineup.
