The Crypto Trust Index 2026, unveiled in Miami on July 2, scores 25 crypto brands based on how five major AI platforms — ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google — actually respond when a first-time buyer asks for guidance.
Coinbase emerged as the clear frontrunner, ranking as the brand AI engines most consistently recommend to newcomers entering the crypto market. The finding positions the publicly traded exchange as the primary beneficiary of a shift in consumer behavior where AI assistants, rather than search engines or social media influencers, serve as the first point of contact for retail investors.

Perhaps more striking is the index's finding on negative recommendations. Five brands are actively warned against by AI systems, including FTX, Celsius, and Terra/Luna — all of which collapsed years ago in high-profile failures that wiped out billions in consumer funds. The persistence of those warnings signals that AI models are encoding reputational damage in ways that could permanently shape public perception of disgraced platforms, even long after the news cycle has moved on.
The research underscores a broader strategic reality for crypto companies: visibility and trust within AI training data and real-time responses may now be as commercially critical as traditional search engine optimization. Brands that AI systems distrust or ignore face a structural disadvantage in reaching the next wave of retail participants, regardless of their current regulatory standing or product quality.
